Whoβs ready for Monday night football?
Letβs kickoff the week with a little team building. The only thing better than going to a football game is to cheer on your favorite team with fellow fans.
Thanks to a reader who asked where they could find a watch party for a specific football team β we did a little review on the play to find a few local fan clubs + alumni groups that meet to cheer on NFL + NCAA teams.

Mark your calendars, because the South Carolina State Fair is officially back in-person Oct. 13-24 at the SC State Fairgrounds.
Pro tip: Through tomorrow, Oct. 12, you can skip the box office lines + grab $10 general admission tickets (aka 50% off) online or at any participating Circle K. If you wait to purchase your tickets at the gate, theyβre $20. Discounted ride vouchers are available through tomorrow as well. π‘ β

Number
- 1,600. The number of new parking spaces that could be coming soon to the Vista, following the release of a new parking garage study last week. The new garage is estimated to cost $65 million and is part of the convention center expansion. π (The Post and Courier)

- The organic juice bar Java Juice Cafe is getting a new address. The mobile company is opening a storefront in the Vista at 504 Gervais St., which is the former Vista Nutrition location. The cafe is expected to open in November. (Cola Daily)
- The first Chapin Goodwill is now open at 524 Columbia Ave. The new store is open 7 days a week from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. It includes a retail store, donation center, and a Community Connection location. (Cola Daily)

- Absentee ballots can now be submitted for the upcoming election, on Nov. 2. Check to see if you meet the qualifications to vote absentee here. π³οΈ (WLTX)

- Curiosity Coffee Bar is serving up the fall flavor vibes. Stop by for lunch this week and try the new vegan Pumpkin Gazpacho. The chilled dish is topped with City Roots sunflower microgreens + served with multigrain toast. π

- This week, South Carolina Department of Transportation will repair potholes along I-77 southbound from mile marker 2-3. Closures will take place overnight from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. There isnβt a schuele for repairs on the northbound side of the interstate. (WLTX)

- Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is getting ready for Boo at the Zoo and asking for creative pumpkin donations. Artificial pumpkins can be dropped off at guest relations through Oct. 17 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Favorites will be shared on social media + displayed at the event.
Soda Citizen
- A local woman is part of a crew of scientists, engineers, and artists that are working to make space accessible for all. Centra Mazyck is paralyzed from the waist down and is using her experience to be a part of the first parabolic flight, in which every crew member has a disability. (WLTX)

- Lexington Medical Center is now providing COVID-19 booster shots for specific eligible groups at its vaccination clinic at Brookland Baptist Church. See if youβre eligible + make an appointment here. β

- Merrill Gardensβ Good Friends Make Great Neighbors program is the ultimate win-win. Any resident who refers a friend (who then moves in) gets to split $2,000. They each receive a $1,000 check + get a terrific new neighbor. Contact them to learn more. β

After nearly a year-long hiatus, The Arepa Chef food truck is hitting the road again.
