While we may be saying goodbye to some summer produce favorites, like blueberries + peaches, we’re saying hello to a whole new line-up of seasonal produce.
This weekend, the 2021 Fall Plant and Flower Festival takes place at the SC State Farmers Market. Piggybacking off of that fun, annual event, we’re also giving you a rundown of how to find other in-season produce + flora around town.

- The Palmetto Sportsmen's Classic is returning after a 2-year break on March 25-27, 2022. This outdoor enthusiast event is looking for vendors + selling a limited number of tickets for half price. 🦌

- Richland County may extend the deadline to renew business licenses. The renewal date is currently set at March 15, but if passed, will move the date back to April 30 for each year preceding. (WLTX)

- Harvest Hope Food Bank is hosting the “It’s Scary to be Hungry” food drive to raise awareness + collect donations for children in the Midlands facing hunger. Community members interested in donating non-perishable items can find drop off locations here. 🍎

- $56 million. The amount of additional federal funding schools across the state received. The money came from 2 formula grants from the American Rescue Plan Act to support + fund programs for students who have disabilities, urgent needs, or experiencing homelessness. - Making plans to visit the Big Apple? Columbia Metropolitan Airport announced the nonstop flight to LaGuardia Airport will return on Tues., Nov. 2. ✈️

- In the midst of a $38 million renovation, Moncrief Medical Home is going to merge with Moncrief Army Health Clinic — the Main Clinic at Fort Jackson — starting Nov. 5. The merger will allow care for patients to be in 1, centralized location. (WLTX)

A handful of Main Street residents have created homeless posters with resources + information of local organizations that assist in homelessness. The initiative was created as a way to help the dissemination of information to be accurate and available for locals who may need it.
These posters have been posted along The Main Street District. All organizations on the poster have approved + confirmed all the information on the posters is accurate. Contact Transitions Homeless Center with any questions.
