Hello Thursday.
April 25 2024
Pump the brakes before you take another tee-riffic ride in a golf cart. From riding across the golfing green around Limrick or Cobblestone, to taking a spin around the neighborhood — golf carts get plenty of road time in Columbia.
Before you consider adding this recreational vehicle to your garage take a look at these need-to-know rules for these cruisers for South Carolina.
- The golf cart must be insured, permitted, and registered with the South Carolina DMV.
- The golf cart must remain within 4 miles of the home where it is registered.
- It may be operated on roads with posted speeds of less than 35 mph.
- Golf carts may only be operated during daylight hours.
- The driver must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license and gold cart permit.
To receive a golf cart permit, you must do all of the following:
These golf cart permits may be purchased at any DMV branch. After you have a permit, the decal must be placed on the golf cart at all times.
Ready to hit the gas and shop your own golf cart? Check out these local shops:

Tatum here. There is so much to learn about health + wellness that it’s hard to know where to begin — especially if you don’t have access to the right resources. I recently learned that Palmetto Primary Care Physicians — a healthcare provider in SC — offers free virtual Health & Wellness classes.
Palmetto Primary Care Physicians offers 3 customized programs: Living Well, Diabetes, and Pre-Diabetes. They are taught by health and wellness experts including dietitians, pharmacists, and a behavioral health specialist. The goal is to encourage patients to meet their health goals.
I took the “Diabetes” course and gained so much insight. Here’s what I learned and how you can #TryThis.

What we tried (with pricing):
I took the “Diabetes” class for free — all Health & Wellness courses are offered at no cost. The lesson was taught by a pharmacist and a registered dietitian and was administered via Zoom.
I became educated about the fundamentals of the disease + discovered why it is important to control your blood sugar. While a healthy diet and regular exercise were emphasized, I also learned that medication is not a last resort and can be a great tool in your toolbox to lead a healthier life. Ⓟ

There’s a new Little Free Library at W.A. Perry Middle School, thanks to the Columbia Capital Rotary Club. The goal of this project is to support literacy at home and fulfill one of their 7 Areas of Focus— supporting education + literacy around the world.
The community is encouraged to discover a new book and share a well-loved one to spread the love of learning. The club will maintain the library for years to come.
